Joel Pryor

Name: Joel Pryor
Hometown: Birmingham, Alabama
Occupation: Independent talent buyer with a specialty in event and festival management.
What’s the best part of what you do?

Working at 110 percent daily to put a great product on stage for the public. It’s amazing the feeling I get when I see everyone rocking out to an artist at an event that I am a part of.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Doing what one loves to do for a career.
What is your greatest fear?

Letting down an artist with whom I am associated. I want everyone involved in any production I am involved with to walk away with pure happiness and joy. If that is not the case, then I’ve not done my job.
Who are your favorite musicians?

There are too many to name but here are five: Prince, Ben Harper, Ray Lamontagne, Lenny Kravitz, and Elle Varner. I just recently worked with Elle, and she blew me away. Probably my favorite sound check ever.
Which historical figure do you most identify with?

Irvin Azoff. He is one of my true heroes. Azoff is the manager for The Eagles, Joe Walsh, and Jimmy Buffett, as well being a former executive for Live Nation. He would do anything for his artists in regards to making them successful entities.
What gets you out of bed every morning?

The excitement of knowing that today will not be the same yesterday.
What’s your current music phase?

The singer/songwriter and EDM (electronic dance music) genres.
What’s your favorite vacation spot?

Any beach where no one knows my name.
What is your most treasured possession?

My sanity.

Where would you like to live?

Austin, Texas.

What living person you most admire?

President Barack Obama.

What do you most value in your friends?

Knowing that they always have my back and I consider them to be a part of my family.
What’s your current state of mind?

Constantly thinking. I’m wondering what I missed on the last show and what I’m going to do to make sure that everything is perfect for the next show.
What talents you would most like to have?

I would like to learn to play guitar and piano.
