Name: Mara Russell

Age: Do I have to tell? (46 if you must know).
My hometown: Birmingham
Profession: Attorney
Who most inspires you? My long time best friend, Louise Clyce . . . She brings out the best in me.
When were you happiest? I am happiest right now (in spite of challenges) because being happy in the moment is really what counts.
What is your best characteristic? Loyalty
Most treasured possession: My body. Though it is far from perfect, without it, I wouldn’t be here.
I am guilty of: Holding stuff inside .  .  . thinking I am an Island.
My best friend says I am: A true friend.
What is your greatest extravagance? My monthly dues to Irontribe Fitness . . . a crossfit gym. I figure the best way to spend my extra money is on my health.
Guilty pleasure: Trashing my “to do list” on a sunny Saturday afternoon, pulling the lounge chair outside, reading a good book and enjoying the sun.
What is your greatest fear? That my life, when it is over, did not make a difference in the lives of others.
Favorite book: Other than God’s Word, “My Utmost for His Highest” by Oswald Chambers
Talents (or talents you wish you had): Don’t ask me to sing or dance but if I worked on it, I think I have a talent to draw and paint.
Heroes: That one is easy . . . Louise Clyce . . .my best friend forever.
Greatest regret: I didn’t get to know my Grandmother better before she passed away.
Quality you most like in a woman? Strength and tenacity
What is your idea of perfect happiness? Spending time with friends and family over a cup of coffee  . . . preferably at the beach.
If you could meet anyone in the world who would it be and what would you say to them? When I was six years old I was abducted off the street by a stranger. A woman saw what was happening from her upstairs window and yelled at the man to let me go. If I were to ever find her, I would tell her ‘thank you’ for saving my life.
What do you consider the most overrated virtue? Competitiveness, if it means trampling over other’s rights in order to win. Sometimes, it is more virtuous to step aside for the good of another than to win.
What is your greatest achievement? Overcoming the obstacles I have faced thus far in my life.
Would love to have dinner with: My boss
What is your current state of mind? Hopeful
You can never have too many… Friends.
