Hello, July! Check out this month’s B-Metro

We Americans love regional cuisine and few treats generate more traditions than the hot dog. Whether it’s a part of a Coney Island eating contest or bursting with a certain city’s classic toppings, hot dogs are as identified with specific regions as baseball teams are.

Oak Mountain State Park

As part of Alabama State Park’s 75th Anniversary, Oak Mountain State Park will host a fun patriotic evening before July 4th. Enjoy music, food, snowcones, beer, and a wakeboarding demo before the fireworks shoot off at 9 PM.

Five Points South

What do fireworks, Good People beer, a birthday party and Vulcan have in common? 4th of July Weekend in Five Points South, of course! Celebrate Independence Day and Good People Brewing Co.’s 6th birthday at this annual pub crawl through participating bars/restaurants in Five Points.

Peavine Falls Run

Oak Mountain State Park

One of our community’s biggest July 4th traditions is the Peavine Falls Run that happens every Independence Day. This 33rd annual race covers 8.2 miles on a scenic trail from the Dogwood Pavilion to the park’s picnic area.

Independence Day 1776

July 4 starting at 12:00 noon
American Village

Step back in time to the first Independence day our country celebrated. At this day-long, family event, you’ll see costumed historical interpreters, revolutionary army drills, 18th century games, and the Independence Ball. Full Moon BBQ will also be served, and the evening will conclude with fireworks.

Hoover Met

This annual family-friendly festival is free and celebrates the Fourth of July like no other. You’ll enjoy a variety of concessions, a car show, a kids’ zone featuring inflatables and games, and live music by The Onlys, Rhett Walker Band, and Ryan Kinder.
