B-Metro Fusion Awards


The Fusion Awards recognize Birmingham role models and community heroes who showcase a devotion to equality, diversity, and inclusion. These awards embrace the excellence of all citizens of any race, faith, gender, sexual orientation, age, or disability.

The winners will be featured in the October issue of
B-Metro Magazine and at an awards luncheon in their honor.

Iron Cinema Movie Night

Iron City recently launched its first-ever movies series with screenings of a collection of music-themed cult classics. Admission is free, and a dinner menu will be available so you can eat and drink while you watch. The series ends tonight with a screening of the cult classic Wayne’s World.

Float Your Boat Festival
July 19 from 11 AM – 3:00 PM
Turkey Creek Nature Preserve

This event offers fun for the entire family with games, boat races, a kids’ fun zone, food, music, and more. It kicks off with an 8K trail run at 8 AM, and the festival officially opens at 11 AM. Proceeds benefit the Preserve’s environmental education programing, which reaches 10,000 students every year.

Birmingham’s roller derby ladies have only two more home bouts this season; cheer them on as they face a double header this weekend. At 5 PM, the TCR take on the Air Raid Sirens from Marietta, GA, and at 7 PM, they’ll face longtime rivals, the Dixie Derby Girls from Huntsville, AL.

Le Tour de Cahaba

Cahaba Cycles – Homewood

Cyclists, you won’t want to miss this bike race through Birmingham. No pre-registration is required, so you can register the day of the event. There will be a 70-mile route, 46-mile route, and 10-mile beginner route available to ride, and all racers will be treated to a post-race cookout at Cahaba Cycles.

Battle of the Blues Bands

The Magic City Blues Society is hosting this annual statewide blues band battle, and the public is invited to come watch and listen. The winning band and solo artist will represent the state at the 31st International Blues Challenge in Memphis, where artists from more than 150 blues societies from around the world will compete.

Goldilocks is a lively girl who has one big problem: she can’t keep her hands off other people’s things! When she travels into the woods and finds a cottage full of exciting things, she just can’t resist.
