42nd Annual Greek Festival

Holy Trinity-Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral

Our mouths are watering already… the Greek festival is back this weekend in downtown B’ham. In addition to delicious, authentic Greek cuisine, you’ll enjoy live Greek music and traditional Greek dancing. Order your food and eat on site, or opt to get a meal for takeout.

Western’s Fall Wine & Food Festival
September 26 from 6 – 9:00 PM
Birmingham Zoo

This 25th annual festival showcases more than 500 wines and 40 local food vendors, making it one of the top food and wine events in our city. Guests will also enjoy wine deals, carousel rides, and the company of the Zoo’s exotic animals. All proceeds will benefit the Emmet O’Neal Library.

A Night at Gatsby’s

Step back in time to the Roaring Twenties at this event benefiting the Alabama Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children’s of Alabama. The night will include live music, dinner, and a silent auction. Jazz Age and 1920s attire is encouraged.

The Preserve in Hoover

This 5th annual 5K and fun run will be followed by a day of entertainment for all ages. Participants will enjoy live music, local ale from Good People Brewing Co., and pizza & wings. Activities include children’s inflatable games, face painting, a photo booth, and more.

This 5K Walk/Run is sponsored by and benefits the Birmingham area council of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, which gives direct aid to the needy of Birmingham and Tuscaloosa.

Going Gold for Ally Art Fair & Bake Sale

September 27 from 9 AM – 2:00 PM
The Connection Church – Chelsea, AL

Shop at more than 20 different local vendors selling boutique clothing, art, tutus, jewelry, and baked goods, or choose to bid in a silent auction featuring more than 25 items. This event raises funds for Ally, a local 14-year-old pediatric cancer patient who continues to fight the battle of Osteosarcoma.

At this annual community fundraiser for PreSchool Partners, you’ll enjoy a live concert from several local bands, including The Hams and Rollin’ in the Hay. There will also be a Touch-a-Truck exhibit where kids can climb into our city’s service vehicles.
Plus, from 5-8 PM on 9/25, you’re invited to eat, shop, and meet & mingle with your favorite characters at the Character Crawl throughout Crestline.

Tapping Out Childhood Cancer Gala

Alabama Theatre

Now in its 6th year, this dance fundraiser for Children’s of Alabama was started by cancer survivor and award-winning dancer Alex Swader, 14. The family-friendly event showcases performances by local dancers from Birmingham-area studios and will be followed by a VIP after party at Gabrella Manor.

23rd Annual Magic City AIDS Walk
September 28 from 3 – 6:00 PM
Avondale Park

This annual walk and 5K run hosted by Birmingham AIDS Outreach kicks off with a fun, free community event that welcomes all ages and pets, too. From 3-5 PM, enjoy food trucks, bounce houses, an 80s band, a performance by the Birmingham Metro Youth Choir, free health screenings, and more. The walk/run will commence at 5:15 PM.

This 1960’s musical revue runs chronologically from beehive hairdos and mini skirts to free flowing hair and hippie fashion. The fast paced show features more than 40 great tunes including “Respect,” “Where Did Our Love Go?” “Proud Mary,” and many more memorable hits tied together with information about each era.


The Bell Center’s Birthday Celebration

The Bell Center

Since 1984, The Bell Center has provided quality early intervention services to infants and toddlers in Birmingham. As they celebrate their 30th birthday, you’re invited to join The Bell Center for cake and punch under the awning of their office. The event is free and open to the public.
