Birmingham New Music Festival

Now in its second year, the Birmingham New Music Festival heralds the 20th anniversary season of presenting organization Birmingham Art Music Alliance. As part of the celebration, six concerts will feature music by Alabama-based composers and by the organization’s founding members.

ASO presents Joyce Yang

Alys Stephens Center’s Jeminson Concert Hall 

Award winning pianist Joyce Yang returns to Birmingham for a two night engagement at Alabama Symphony Orchestra.
The concert will showcase Yang at the piano and ASO’s new music director, Carlos Izcaray, conducting.

Enjoy this free outdoor tasting festival celebrating the area’s varied culinary artists featuring fine wines, more than 50 craft beers from around the world, live music, local and regional artists, children’s activities, and more.


Jewish Food Festival

October 11, 11 a.m.- 2 p.m.
Levite Jewish Community Center

This family-friendly outdoor event will be held on the Levite Field and feature a market place with local vendors and craftsman, children’s games and activities, live music, and delicious Jewish foods such as a Brisket and Kugel plate, Falafel pita pocket, Matzah Ball Soup, and Black and White Cookies.


Whispers from the Past

Aldridge Gardens

See Native American life take shape through flint knapping, pine needle basket weaving, and dance performances. Authentic Native American food will be available for purchase as well as handmade flutes, drums, jewelry, and bead work. 


Brookwood Mammothon

Brookwood Diagnostic Center

Make time for a mammogram that fits your schedule by signing up for Brookwood’s annual Mammothon. Throughout the day, you’ll be treated to a fabulous fashion show, cooking demos, food, and SWAG bags at this “health meets fun” event for women. The B-Metro blog team will be on site from
