The new Benjamin Russell Hospital is changing the Birmingham skyline in a large and breathtaking way. The 12-story hospital is named in honor of Benjamin Russell, the founder of the company that became Russell Corp. in Alexander City. Benjamin Russell’s grandson, Ben Russell, and his wife, Luanne, gave a $25 million donation for the new structure, which opens next month. The expansion makes Children’s of Alabama the third-largest pediatric hospital in the country. Photo by William Anderson
