Holiday Glamour

Survival Guide!

Christmas time is the perfect time for making magical family memories. I have so many fond childhood Christmas memories, and one of my very favorites is of going to The Enchanted Forest, at the downtown Pizitz department store, to see Santa Clause and the talking Christmas tree, it was a highlight of the year. (It was a huge delight one year when my older brother, Joe, knew who was inside the tree and had it say some very specific things to us!). Afterwards we would go to eat at Joy Young Restaurant, and stroll through what was then called, Woodrow Wilson Park, now Linn Park, to see the lights on the trees.

Over the years our family has created some of our own treasured holiday traditions, and each year I make a list of the moments I most look forward to, the ones that I absolutely must make the time to enjoy and not let slip away in the rush and frenzy of the season. It probably comes as no surprise to you, that most of them have nothing to do with buying, and everything to do with spending- your time in the company of those you love.

So, here’s my guide to glamorously surviving the holidays, and wishing you a Magic City Merry Christmas, too!
