Chicness might not be the first word that comes to mind when thinking of a cheese monger. But one look at Stone Hollow Creamery’s fetching label on their locally made goat cheese, and you know someone stylish is behind the branding. And indeed there is. Knockout blonde Alexandra Stone handles the product development and public relations for the variety of products created at her family’s farm; while offering her input on graphic design, which she is currently studying at Samford University.

Stone has lived a lot of life in her mere 23-years. During her senior year of high school, she attended a program in NYC at the Parsons School of Design. After graduation, she travelled with Oscar-nominated makeup artist Tina Earnshaw, promoting Earnshaw’s cosmetic line, an experience Stone says taught her about inner-beauty and embracing her own womanhood. Wanting to spread her wings a bit, Stone enrolled at California’s Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, where she fell in love with computer art and photography. But alas, the South beckoned her home. “I loved the West Coast,” Stone says, “but I missed the people, the food and the family focus of the South. I couldn’t live without shrimp and grits and my grandmother’s sweet tea!”

Stone’s continued passion for creative images, especially fashion photography, inspires her own style, as she replicates the looks in a way that reflects her own personality and fits into her lifestyle. Some days she will sport stilettos; on others she is “Farmer Stone” in her Lucchese boots. “I think style is about bringing your spirit and attitude into your looks,” Stone offers. “My friends tease me that my heel height directly correlates with the amount of sass I have that day!”

A self-described online shopper, her favorite destinations include Shopbop, Singer 22 and Planet Blue. On her wish list is a red tuxedo from celebrity-stylist Rachel Zoe’s new line and a salmon-colored knotted skirt that Alexandra plans to pair with a cropped leather jacket, spotted in the Spring 2012 Lookbook of Amon Stovall, a line co-designed by her friend and Birmingham native Mary Catherine Moody. Other go-to designers include Rag & Bone for their tees and button-down shirts, Helmut Lang for his “rad leggings,” LA based Rick Owens for pieces that are “edgy yet still timeless” and, most often, Elizabeth and James (Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s extremely successful fashion company).

While Stone lists as her style icons unique choices such as Bianca Jagger, Diane Kruger and model Elisa Sednaoui, her mother, Deborah, is a fashion mentor as well. As a child, Stone remembers her mother putting on “costumes” as she and her sister called them. “She always took chances with her outfits and always looked flawless,” says Stone, who has recently found herself digging in her mother’s closet and jewelry box for those very items that are again fashionable. “She has a collection of these huge gold rings that I was and still am obsessed with. I recently ‘borrowed’ them,” Stone confesses. “After she reads this article she may be ‘borrowing’ them back!” For more information, visitwww.stonehollowfarmstead.com.

Alexandra is coveting for the holidays this Rachel Zoe red tuxedo from the Fall 2011 Lookbook. Quoting Zoe herself, "I love everything about a tuxedo on a woman."
