Tapas & Taps

The J. Clyde is celebrating its 7th anniversary, and you’re invited to join by enjoying a full week of fine food and amazing craft beer. Each night will focus on a themed menu of tapas paired with some of the best craft beer available in Birmingham, and it will all end with a 7-course beer dinner with their friends at Trim Tab Brewing Co.

Paws on the Patio

Enjoy sipping handcrafted cocktails and complimentary appetizers on a spacious patio while your pets mix and mingle with new friends. The FoodBar mixologist will be crafting a one-of-a-kind cocktail for the event, and 10% of proceeds will benefit Hand in Paw, a local non-profit that specializes in animal-assisted therapy.

Birmingham Revealed: Sun Ra

The Birmingham Seven, a group of top jazz professionals, will perform original transcriptions of music from Sun Ra’s The Magic City album. Also at this fun, eclectic event, Birmingham Seven will integrate film and imagery drawn from archival sources as part of their performance, and visual artist Lonnie Holley will unveil three pieces commissioned by the park. 


Region 8 Men’s Gymnastics Championship

Samford University’s Pete Hanna Center

Birmingham was chosen over several other cities in the southeast to host this year’s Region 8 Men’s Gymnastics Championship, where more than 650 top male gymnasts from the southeastern states will compete over the course of a few days. The public is invited to watch these incredible athletes compete.

The Alabama Ballet presents this annual mixed repertory performance featuring Rodeo, Agnes de Mille’s most popular and most frequently performed ballet, which is inspired by cattle roping and horseback riding. The Ballet will also present one of the most celebrated excerpts in classical ballet, the Kingdom of the Shades scene from La Bayadere.

Jazz on the Hilltop

This second annual community concert and festival features soul-jazz flautist Althea Rene of Detroit and the Roman Street band from Mobile. Guests are encouraged to bring folding chairs and blankets to get comfortable on the lawn. There will be an inflatable play area for kids and plenty of food vendors for all to enjoy.
