Vino in English Village

Join B-Metro as we celebrate the outstanding women featured in our May issue. Women and men are invited to attend this free premier networking event, which will include complimentary food, a cash bar, and door prizes.

This 6th annual event will showcase an amazing exhibit by local photographers that guests will have the chance to bid on to take “off the wall.” As you browse the art, enjoy wine and food by Soho area restaurants. Proceeds benefit Gateway, which provides counseling, intervention, education, prevention, and foster care to families in crisis.

Spring Into Artwalk

For this spring artwalk, artists will set up booths along Main Street and down the university promenade to display and sell their work. Demonstrations will include chainsaw artists Andy Cummings and Shane Welch along with community theatre group Pillowfort, all amidst a casual, street party atmosphere.

Tails in the Trails

This monthly poetry open mic night and beer tasting invites local poets to come out and perform their works for a crowd. This month’s event will celebrate William Shakespeare’s 450th birthday. Guests are encouraged to share their favorite Shakespearean lines or their own verses inspired by Shakespeare.

This free weekend conference will feature tips, insights and suggestions from DayStar Counseling Ministries’ parenting experts. Two seminars will cover topics “Intentional Parenting” and “Raising Boys and Girls,” named after two award-winning parenting books written by DayStar authors. These conference speakers will teach parents the ins and outs on practical parenting strategies.

This 2nd annual family-friendly fundraiser for UAB was started by Lucy, age 9, and Ruby, age 7, who lost their dad to brain cancer last year. This event will feature food trucks, fresh lemonade, live music, Steel City Pops, games and more to benefit Wheeling for Hope, which aids brain cancer research and patient support services at UAB.
