Magic City Classic
October 25
Legion Field

Now in its 73nd year, the Magic City Classic is a Birmingham tradition our community anticipates each year. Join the fun as the day kicks off with an 8 AM parade through downtown B’ham, followed by tailgating, the Alabama A&M University v. Alabama State University game, and a post-game show by Bell Biv DeVoe.

Chefs vs. Surgeons Pumpkin Carving Contest

It’s time for one of the most unique Halloween traditions in the city… watch as Brookwood physicians and local chefs compete to carve the most creative pumpkin. Kids will enjoy

trick-or-treating, face painting, balloon animals and free mini-pumpkins.

A Ghoulish Halloween Event

Outlet Shops of Grand River

The Outlet Shops invite the B’ham community to celebrate in Halloween fun with a costume contest and trick-or-treat celebration. Families can stop by to enjoy candy and treats in the food court, followed by a costume contest for children 12 and under with gift card prizes.

World of Beer

The Dalai Lama in Birmingham

His holiness the 14th Dalai Lama will visit Birmingham this Sunday. Enjoy an afternoon with the Dalai Lama as he speaks at Regions Field. His speech will be accompanied by a performance by the Alabama Symphony Orchestra.

Barking at the Moon Festival

This 3rd annual family and dog-friendly event will include a dog pageant, dog contest, and a kids’ costume contest. Attendees will also enjoy vendor booths and a performance by Tony Hoard’s Trick Dogs.

Spooky Science

Birmingham Botanical Gardens

Bubble, bubble, toil and trouble… join the Gardens and Fresh Air Family for this free family program. Participants are encouraged to wear their Halloween costume while they learn to make a witches brew, ooze, fake blood, and spider-themed crafts.

Taking place in a 19th century home, this family-friendly storytelling event will feature Jane Trechsel, celebrity storyteller, actress, author and poet. The event will also include a tour of the home, room-to-room trick-or-treating, art activities, and a paranormal expert that will reveal his findings.

Boo at the Zoo

The Birmingham Zoo

Put on your family-friendly costume and watch as the Zoo transforms into a destination of spooky attractions, trick-or-treating, themed rides, and fun games for 16 nights of Halloween fun. A few favorite activities include the Creepy Carnival, the Sasquatch Hay Ride, and the all-new Monster Slide.

A Very Carrie Prom
