Food Truck Pop-Up

Who doesn’t love the diverse food trucks in our city? Next week, REVIVE Birmingham is taking over a vacant lot in the historic Woodlawn neighborhood and giving it to the Food Truck Fleet. REVIVE invites young and old to come and spend their lunch break at this pop-up foodie park.

 


Halloween Flicks: Screening of Psycho

Trunk or Treat Halloween Party

This annual fundraiser invites you to don your best Halloween costume and have a hauntingly good time for a great cause. Take part in the costume contest, dance to live 80’s music by The Schmohawks and DJ Professor Beatz, and enjoy fare from local food trucks. The event benefits the restoration of both the Alabama Theatre and the Lyric Theatre.

Birmingham Ghost Walks

Birmingham is full of the the quick and the dead; come hear their stories on a lantern-lit tour through the city. From hotels and brothels, to libraries and theatres, to cemeteries and Sloss Furnaces, you’ll see the best of historic downtown Birmingham. The tour lasts around two hours and is rated PG-13 for darker themes.  


BSC’s Organ Spooktacular

Get ready to hear some boo-tiful music at this much-anticipated event. This annual Hilltop tradition of “organists behaving badly” includes music professors, students, and alumni performing Halloween musical favorites. Guests are invited to come in costume and partake in the “Pumpkin Carols” sing-a-long at this all-ages event.


Boo at the Zoo

“Boo at the Zoo” presented by Wells Fargo invites guests to wear their favorite family-friendly costume and watch as the zoo transforms into a destination of spooky attractions, trick-or-treating, themed rides and games. This year, your favorite Marvel superheroes are flying in to meet guests! “Boo at the Zoo” opens at 5 PM on participating nights.

Wine Auction Weekend

Birmingham Country Club

This 24th annual event starts on Friday with a wine tasting of more than 250 wines and a silent auction followed by the private winemakers dinner. On Saturday, guests are invited to attend the black-tie optional live auction. This year’s honorary chairsperson is Alan Viader of VIADER Vineyards & Winery, and the event benefits several local charities that support Alabama’s children.

Raise the Roof for Rett

This second annual event presented by the SUKI Foundation supports fund research and therapy programs for Rett syndrome patients at Children’s of Alabama. All of your favorite characters are here in Disney’s Aladdin Junior, a stage adaptation of the hit animated film. Filled with magic, mayhem, and flying carpet rides, your spirit will soar with excitement.  Favorite songs including “A Whole New World” and “Friend Like Me” will certainly make this musical a favorite for all ages! This production is part of RMTC’s Youth Series and is performed by students ages 7-12.

Dig up your friends and don’t be caught missing out on the second annual zombie fun walk through the cemetery! Arrive at 2 PM to get a hand from zombie make-up artists before the “feeding” at 3 PM. This event is family-friendly and fun for all ages, plus, all proceeds will go to the restoration fund for the Oak Hill Memorial Association.

Birmingham’s Day of the Dead Celebration

Day of the Dead is a vibrant, joyful commemoration of lost loved ones that originated in Mexico centuries ago. Birmingham is celebrating for the 11th year in a row, and this year it will pay special tribute to the Civil Rights martyrs as we celebrate 50 Years Forward. Traditional remembrance altars, a procession, music, dancing and family-oriented activities will bring to life the streets of downtown Birmingham.

Out of the Darkness Walk

Heardmont Park
This fundraising walk benefits the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention by helping to support local and national suicide prevention and awareness programs. The Birmingham walk is one of some 275 “Out of the Darkness” walks to happen this year across the globe. The walk is free, and pets, strollers, and wheelchairs are all accommodated.

Dancing with the Silver Stars

This year marks the 4th season of Birmingham’s most popular event designed to highlight and raise funds for healthy aging research.
