Family Matters Opening Reception

Birmingham Civil Rights Institute

This opening reception features a photography exhibition by Carolyn Sherer of self-identified LGBTQ youth ages 15-23 from Birmingham. This exhibition is aimed at initiating a conversation about social change and the need for family acceptance for LGBTQ youth.

Oak Mountain State Fair

Alabama’s largest outdoor event is back! Along with carnival rides and games, this year’s fair offers some unique food (deep fried Oreos, anyone?) and special attractions such as Kachunga & The Alligator show, No Joe’s Circus, Larry Moore the Magic Man, a motorcycle stunt show, a live petting zoo, and much more!


Bargain Carousel

The annual Bargain Carousel hosted by the Junior League of Birmingham is best described as a “1000-family garage sale” and will take place April 26 – 27. The fundraising event will kick off with the Bargain Bash on April 24, which offers early access to the best merchandise, silent & live auctions, food & drinks, and entertainment.

Dining Out for Life

Tomorrow, you can contribute to the local fight against HIV/AIDS by simply dining out at a participating restaurant for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. At these restaurants, a minimum of 25% of your bill will be donated to AIDS Alabama.

World Oyama Karate Championship

One of the world’s premier martial arts championships will take place this weekend, and you have the chance to watch it. Live Well Walk
