Grand Holiday Spectacular
November 14 from 4:00 PM – close
The Outlet Shops of Grand River

This enchanted evening kicks off with the grand opening of “Grand River on Ice” at 4 PM and continues with the official lighting of the 23-foot Christmas Tree commencing at 6:30 PM. The magical celebration wouldn’t be complete without live entertainment from Red Mountain Theatre Co., Alabama Symphony Orchestra, and Alabama Ballet!
You’ll even meet Santa & Mrs. Claus!

Pepper Place Holiday Block Party

2013 Illuminations Ball
November 15 at 6:00 PM
Cahaba Grand Conference Center

This 12th annual ball is presented by The Protective Life Corporation and benefits Children’s of Alabama. The evening will include a seated dinner with holiday dessert stations, live music by Big Daddy’s New Band, and silent and live auctions. Be sure to also view the 40+ Illuminations decorated trees on display in the Children’s Russell and McWane lobbies through 12/5!

Human Rights Awards Celebration

The Fred L. Shuttlesworth Human Rights Award is the highest honor awarded by the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, and this year’s recipient is Andrew Young, noted Civil Rights Activist, former mayor, congressman, and U.N. ambassador. This annual celebration will include dinner, a reception, and the awards program.

Evening of Art and Blues

Hotel Capstone in Tuscaloosa

This 7th annual event invites the Birmingham community to Tuscaloosa for live blues music by The Alabama Blues Project Advanced Band, Ham Bagby, and Powerhouse. The evening will also include a silent auction benefiting children’s music camps and programs that work to preserve the Southern tradition of blues music.

A Southern Christmas Bazaar

Pelham Civic Complex & Ice Arena

This two-day bazaar is put on by The Alabaster-Pelham Rotary Club and showcases 50+ merchants from Alabama and surrounding states. Stop by between 3-8 PM on Friday or 9-5 PM on Saturday for a variety of Christmas items at this premier shopping event.

The Addams Family

Don’t miss the national tour of this new musical based on the bizarre and beloved Addams family. In this original story, Wednesday Addams has fallen in love with a young man from a respectable family, but everything changes for the family the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.

This annual exhibit is now in its 24th year, and it is just as spectacular as ever. More than 30 trees have been decorated with ornaments created by children in 30+ local schools. This year’s theme, “Let it Snow!” is sure to bring holiday cheer.

WITNESS: The Voices of Kristallnacht 

November 17 at 2:30 PM
Birmingham Museum of Art, Steiner Auditorium


In commemoration of the 75th anniversary of Kristallnacht, the “night of broken glass” in the Holocaust, the Birmingham Holocaust Education Center presents this dramatic reading of first person narratives by people who experienced Kristallnacht–people including victims, perpetrators and bystanders. The event is free and open to the public.


The Eagles in Concert
