This week, Birmingham transforms into a walking art gallery featuring 50+ of our city’s talented artists. Head to downtown Birmingham on Thursday from 5 – 9 p.m. for live music, local food, and artisans from around Birmingham.


First Thursday at Pepper Place

On the first Thursday of the month, area shops will stay open late as you are invited to browse, sip a complimentary cocktail, and enjoy tasty bites from 5 – 8 p.m. 


Rod Man

The hilarious winner of Season 8 of Last Coming Standing is headed to Birmingham for three nights of comedy shows. Known for his laidback style and southern wit, Rod Man is sure to put on a     laugh-out-loud stand up show.

An Evening With X

Three decades after the inception of X, one thing is clear: X was not only one of the most influential bands to crash out of the punk movement of the late ’70s, but the band’s music continues to be groundbreaking today. Hear them live this weekend at Saturn.  


Labor Day at the Birmingham Zoo

Bring the family to the zoo this holiday weekend and explore all it has to offer: visit the new black bear trail, take a ride on the zipline, feed the giraffes, and cool off in the splash pads at the children’s zoo.  


Canoe & Kayak Trip

What better way to relax during Labor Day weekend than by paddling along the Tallapoosa? This

scenic stretch of river has no major rapids and should make for an easy trip. Canoes and kayaks will be available for rent.


Labor Day Golden Classic

Legion Field

Since its start in 2001, the Labor Day Golden Classic has become the largest Division II football game in the country, topping off with more than 40,000 in attendance each year. This weekend, watch as Miles College takes on the University of North Alabama. 


24th Annual Labor Day Celebration

September 7
Tannehill Ironworks State Park

Participate in Alabama’s largest moon pie eating contest at this longstanding annual Labor Day event. There will be plenty of good BBQ and some live music, too.
