Relient K
featuring Hellogoodbye

Zydeco, 4/24, 6:30 PM

With Ohio roots, the band Relient K is named after guitarist Matt Hoopes’ Plymouth Reliant K car, with the spelling intentionally altered to avoid trademark infringement over the Reliant name. The wildly popular group is associated with the Contemporary Christian Music culture, most notably the Christian rock and Christian punk scene. Despite being a Christian band the group has performed alongside secular artists, and has had critical success with mainstream pop punk and alternative rock. Hellogoodbye, a group of quirky, fun-loving emo rockers from California, seems to take as much influence from modern pop-punk as they do from the original Nintendo sound bleeps that held children captive in the late ’80s. Formed in 2002, the group’s playful brand of indie power pop is infused with sugary sweetness, catchy dance beats, and enough energy to tire a group of five-year-olds. Catch Relient K, Hellogoodbye and guests at Zydeco! More details here

Iron City Presents:
BUSH with Special Guest
Beware of Darkness

Iron City, 4/28, 8:00 PM

The headline of the Billboard article said it all: “Like They Never Left.” The story hailed the return of mega-platinum rock band BUSH, who had just self-released The Sea of Memories, their first album in 10 years, and wasted no time returning to the top of the charts. In fact, they did it in grand style: the album’s lead single, “The Sound of Winter,” made rock radio history by becoming the first self-released song ever to hit No. 1 at Alternative Radio. “The Sound of Winter” also holds the distinction of being the reunited group’s first No. 1 single since 1999’s chart-topping hit, “The Chemicals Between Us.” Now, Birmingham audiences can rejoin the Bush tour momentum and fans can rejoice as Bush hits the stage on April 28th.
