Sidewalk Moving Picture Festival

August 22 – 24

Downtown Birmingham Theatre District 

Now in its 16th year, the 3-day annual Sidewalk film festival showcases new independent films in Birmingham. This year’s festival will screen 200+ films across eight venues in the city’s newly-restored theatre district. Not sure where to start? Check out the B-Metro guide to this year’s festival.

Montevallo Artwalk

Main Street – Montevallo
This Friday, Main Street businesses will fill their storefronts with a variety of eclectic artwork including sculpture, paintings, photography, and functional art. Attendees will enjoy a street party atmosphere with wine & refreshments, performance entertainment, and even a few hands-on art experiences.

This 3rd annual 5K is open to all levels of runners and walkers and starts in Homewood Central Park. The run will benefit Impact Family Counseling, a faith-based, United Way nonprofit agency.

This free, two-day festival celebrates our city’s rich culture through performances by local and national jazz artists. The event also includes a diverse selection of food vendors, a children’s village, and an exhibit of art for all to enjoy.

Fairy Tale Ball

Sheraton Hotel Birmingham
This 8th annual semi-formal gala offers a magical evening for guests of all ages to benefit Childcare Resources. At this year’s event, guests will delight in a candy bar, live dance band, and interactive entertainment by fairy tale characters, magicians, and jugglers.


Hops for Hope

World of Beer – Five Points
Enjoy an evening out sipping your favorite local brews at this event benefiting Pathways, a women and children’s homeless shelter.
