Calendar Girls

November 5-22
Virginia Samford Theatre

Based on a true story and the popular movie with Helen Mirren, Calendar Girls tells the story of eight women in Britain who agree to pose for a calendar to raise funds for their local hospital’s cancer wing. A portion of sales will benefit the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center.



TumTum Tree Foundation Wine Tasting and Auction

November 5, 6-8 p.m.
Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center

Sample more than 250 wines and participate in a silent auction, all benefitting eight Alabama charities. Additionally, throughout the weekend, local Birmingham restaurants will host private winemaker dinners.



Open House

Birmingham Art Crawl

The Greatest Holiday Lighting on Earth
November 6, 6 p.m.
Riverchase Galleria 

Join Riverchase Galleria, Hoover Mayor Gary Ivey, and a host of princesses and superheroes. There will be singing and dancing as they light the Christmas Tree and welcome Santa Claus to kick off the holiday season.


Vulcan Run 10K
November 7, 8 a.m.
Downtown Birmingham

What started as the Bicentennial Run in November 1975 has grown into one of the most popular road races in the Southeast with more than 1500 runners in 2014. Hosted by the Birmingham Track Club, this year’s race includes a team competition.


A Southern Christmas Bazaar
November 7, 10 a.m.- 8 p.m.
Pelham Civic Complex

Shoppers can browse a variety of unique Christmas- themed items including clothes, food, collectibles, decorations, and much more. Travel through Candy Cane Lane, Mistletoe Drive, or Jingle Bell Parkway. This event is presented by the 
Alabaster-Pelham Rotary Club.


Walking to Remember
November 7, 8 a.m.
Riverchase Galleria Food Court

 benefits Alzheimer’s of Central Alabama programs and 
attracts more than 400 family members, friends, and coworkers all 
 in memory or honor of a loved one. 
Enjoy refreshments, face painting, live music from the VHHS Jazz Band, and Miss Alabama 2008 singing 
the national anthem.


Brews for Bullies
November 7, 4-7 p.m.
Black Market Bar & Grill, Five Points

Grab your dog and come hang out on the patio for an event benefitting Bama Bully Rescue. There will be live music by The Kosbies and B for Humanity and a Bama Bully booth with t-shirts, hats, handmade jewelry, and more.


Moss Rock Festival
November 7-8
Preserve in Hoover

Now in its 9th year, the festival has become a  regional focus for 
design and 
environmental lovers everywhere and 
welcomed 15,000 visitors in 2014. Enjoy

Yellowhammer Fair
November 8, Noon-10 p.m.

Yellowhammer Creative is proud to present the first annual Yellowhammer Fair in Avondale. Festivities will commence at noon and feature fun for the whole family. YHC will be curating live music, food, drinks, and the Midway Market
, which will be filled with art and locally produced goods.


Sufjan Stevens
November 10, 7:30 p.m.
Alabama Theatre

Birmingham Mountain Radio presents Sufjan Stevens with special guest Gallant. Stevens is a singer and songwriter who makes use of multiple instruments. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

JaWanda‘s Sweet Potato Pies

Come join JaWanda for her Holiday Open House. Sample some of her famous desserts and let her do the holiday baking for you. There will be even more special refreshments for those stopping in around lunchtime (11 a.m.- 2 p.m.).
