The Best Medicine Show
February 28 at 7:00 PM
The Alabama Theatre
Students from the UAB School of Medicine will take the stage for this annual philanthropic event showcasing the students’ creative sides through live singing, dancing and acting, along with pre-recorded video skits. Profits from the event go to Equal Access Birmingham, a student-run program that operates a free primary care clinic for underserved people in the Birmingham area.

Mardi Gras Masquerade

Put on your finest attire and get ready to enjoy delicious drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and music that will transport you to the French Quarter.

Join the Krewe of Vulcan at this 4th annual Mardi Gras-themed fundraiser supporting Kid One Transport, which transports children and expectant mothers to necessary health care services.

Birmingham Heart Ball

The American Heart Association’s annual Heart Ball in Birmingham promises to be an engaging evening of fun and passion bringing community and philanthropic leaders together. Last year, the Heart Ball campaign raised over $59.7 million nationwide, allowing AHA to fund research and programs across the country and in the B’ham community.

Fairy Tale Ball

Experience the magic as beloved stories come off the page and to life at this 6th annual free, all-ages event. This year, explore Willy Wonka’s candy factory, dance with your favorite princes, do a craft with 101 Dalmatians, and perform tricks with Oompa Loompas. There’s a little fun for everyone!

An Evening With Carol Wall

Birmingham Botanical Gardens
Carol Wall, author of Mister Owita’s Guide to Gardening, will speak at a cocktail party benefiting Susan G. Komen North Central Alabama and the Botanical Gardens.

Mister Owita’s Guide to Gardening is a heart-warming memoir of friendship and survival between Wall and her neighbor Giles Owita. They both hold long-buried secrets that, when revealed, will cement their friendship forever.

Team Magic Triathalon
March 2 at 8:00 AM
The LJCC

Whether you’re a novice multisport athlete or a seasoned pro, get ready to run, bike, and swim in this indoor triathlon. Participants will engage in a total of 55 minutes of racing–15 minutes of pool swimming, 20 minutes of spin biking, and 20 minutes of treadmill running. So, get off the couch, dust off your equipment, and get your feet wet!

Birmingham Boys Choir & Traces of Blue

The Birmingham Boys Choir is one of the area’s musical treasures. This weekend, the BBC is performing in collaboration with   a capella jazz ensemble Traces of Blue, an up-and-coming group that appeared on the TV show The Sing Off. Brian Vickers, bass singer and beat-boxer for Traces of Blue, is a Birmingham native and proud alumnus of the BBC.

An Evening With Sara Evans

Magic City Challenge Tennis Tournament

March 3 – 7
Participating tennis facilities

This city-wide tennis tournament is a soft-court doubles only event for ladies levels 2.5-5.3. On March 7, the Love-Love Tennis Ball will conclude the multi-day tournament and celebrate the tennis champions. All proceeds from the tournament benefit the Robert E. Reed Gastrointestinal Oncology Research Foundation.

Pursuit of Happyness hero Chris Gardner

Chris Gardner is the subject of the published autobiography and blockbuster movie The Pursuit of Happyness, a story chronicling his hard times and eventual comeback. In his Stirling Lecture at BSC, Gardner will share his extraordinary story illustrating the power of believing in yourself and your dreams. The event is free and open to the public.

This 10th annual all-ages event invites you to enjoy good food and good times supporting The Exceptional Foundation, which provides social and recreational activities to mentally and physically challenged individuals after they reach age 21. This year, 100 teams will be competing with their signature chili recipes, which attendees will get to sample and vote for their favorites.
