ASFA Holiday Music Concert

Get in the holiday spirit at this family-friendly concert featuring Alabama School of Fine Arts’ award-winning Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble, Choir, and Concerto delle Donne. 


Christmas Home Tour

Samford President’s Home

Presented by the Samford Legacy League, this tour showcases five extraordinary homes in Vestavia Hills and Mountain Brook, ranging from traditional to contemporary. Also, shop at a holiday gift market and feast on hors d’oeuvres at the Samford President’s Home.


George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker

The Alabama Ballet remains one of only eight companies in the world granted the right to perform this holiday classic by the Balanchine Trust. Dazzling choreography costumes and sets make this production unlike any other.

The Polar Express benefiting Kid One Transport
December 12, 10 a.m. & 2 p .m.
The Alabama Theatre

Enjoy watching The Polar Express with your family. Tickets benefit Kid One Transport and include a photo with Santa, a conductor’s hat, and visit to the candy bar. “Touch A Transport” will take place in between showings with opportunities to get hands on with different types of transportation.


Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis

Don your 
 and ring in the holiday spirit with this themed run in support of the Arthritis Foundation. 
Food and drinks will be provided in addition to music, a lively warm-up with Santa, and children’s 


Breakfast with Santa

The Birmingham Zoo

Enjoy a scrambled egg and sausage breakfast with orange juice and coffee at the Kudzoo Café at the Birmingham Zoo followed by a visit from Santa. All children receive a special treat upon arrival. 


Purchase Know Thy Farmer

Pepper Place Market

This book features 
dozens of portraits of Alabama farmers and artisans dedicated to producing quality food as well as chefs who share their philosophy for local and seasonal ingredients.
 It will be on sale at
 the market’s information tent and there will also be a book signing by author/photographer Paul Jones III and Frank Stitt.



Decked Out Dash
December 12, 8 a.m.
Oak Mountain State Park

Whether it’s a red and green tutu, a Santa hat, or a tacky Christmas sweater, grab your festive wear and head 
 this decked out 5K race. All proceeds benefit The Arc of Jefferson County’s programs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.


IPC Holiday House Tour
December 12-13, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., 1-5 p.m.
Independent Presbyterian Church

Now in its 66th year, this tour has long been part of Birmingham’s holiday festivities. Four homes in Mountain Brook will be featured on this tour with proceeds benefitting the missions of IPC.


The Wacky Tacky Christmas Light Tour
December 15 & 16, 5-10 p.m.
Avondale Brewing Company

Wear your tackiest Christmas sweater and ride around viewing the wackiest Christmas light displays such as the  Hanukkah House, Santa’s Trailer Park, Tree Top Santas, and more. Food will be provided.
