A Colonial Christmas
December 17 at 10:30AM and 12PM
American Village

Step back in time at this historical lunch and tour hosted by First Lady Dolley Madison. Visit the Christmas Village–which includes 55 buildings and 150 figurines–sing along at a Christmas concert with figures from the past, and enjoy a Christmas fête in the rustic barn.

Cuban Takeover Night
December 18 at 7PM
Primeaux Cheese + Vino

Birmingham’s only European-style wine and cheese café, Primeaux, will be hosting a five-wine, five-course Cuban Takeover dinner this Thursday. A portion of proceeds will benefit the City of Birmingham’s Division of Youth Services and the Youth First Holiday Campaign.

It’s Not the Mall Y’all

Third Friday in Forest Park

Stop by for the last open house of the year in Forest Park.

The ‘loos’ of Forest Park’s merchants will be turned into art installations by local artists. Get your photo taken as a wall trophy in the Kitschmas deer photo booth by multi-international award winner photographer Liesa Cole and Tony Rodio of Omnistudio. 100% of event proceeds will benefit Ruffner Mountain Nature Preserve.

A Dickens Vest Pocket Christmas Carol

Alys Stephens Performaning Arts Center

The classic holiday tale has been adapted by ASC staff member and ArtPlay teaching artist Jerry Sims, bringing to life the season’s most beloved tale! You may know Jerry from Yuletide in Dogtown, Alice’s EVEN BIGGER Tea Party, and Down the Yellow Brick Road fame. Tickets are $11 for adults and $9 for kids.


The Alabama Ballet will be performing the holiday classic, The Nutcracker, beginning this weekend. As one of only seven companies in the world with rights to perform this holiday classic, The Alabama Ballet’s performance is sure to be a treat!

North Pole Express

Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum

Hop aboard the North Pole Express and enjoy milk & cookies, Christmas carols, and Christmas stories while you travel. Upon arrival at the brilliantly decorated North Pole, Santa, Mrs. Claus and the elves board the train to visit with everyone, so be sure to bring your camera.

Handel’s Messiah

Annual Community Kwanza

Birmingham Civil Rights Institute

Join in with the spirit of family and community at the annual Kwanzaa program. The event kicks off in the Abraham L. Woods Community Meeting Room, and the celebration follows in the Odessa Woolfolk Gallery and will highlight one of seven principles or “Nguzo Saba” of Kwanzaa.


NYE: A Viennese Celebration
