B-Yourself: Jordan Broadwell

Name: Jordan Broadwell or “Jordie”

Age: 22

Hometown: Hoover, Alabama.

Occupation: Student of history at the University of Montevallo and part-time librarian.

Favorite past time: Studying fashion history.

Motto/Mantra: “Aim at a high mark and you’ll hit it. No, not the first time, nor the second time. Maybe not the third. But keep on aiming and keep on shooting for only practice will make you perfect.” — Annie Oakley

If you could meet anyone, who would it be? Beatrix Potter. She has always been an inspiration to me and I believe we would have gotten along quite well. Her imagination was, from what I can gather, quite similar to mine .

Perfect happiness is: Relaxing for a couple of hours in a tea room. I am a bit of a tea fanatic!

My best friend says I am: Sweet, caring, and sensitive.

What is your greatest extravagance? Clothing. I adore dressing up and most of the clothing I buy is influenced by the past—anywhere from the late Victorian era to the 1950s. My wardrobeis very extensive…I feel that I can never have enough pretty clothes!

Which living person do you most admire? My paternal grandmother. She is truly the most strong, loving, and beautiful person on Earth. I can only hope that someday I can be half the woman she is. She is a true Southern lady.

What words or phrases do you most overuse? “Ohhh how cute!” Words cannot express how much I love things that are cute (teddy bears, animals, etc. etc.) and I always squeal with delight when I see something especially adorable.

Last time I lied? I am a truthful person, but I might possibly have the tendency to untruthfully answer questions such as: “Are you okay?” or “What’s wrong?” to avoid conflict.

Last time I cried? That is a difficult question. I am embarassed to say that I am extremely sensitive and cry frequenlty. However if I had to guess, I would say it was probably last week during college finals.

Current state of mind? Thoughtful. I want to answer these questions as thoroughly as possible without sounding as if I’m rambling.

What keeps you awake at night? A vast number of things. But for the sake of brevity, I’ll say thinking about all of the things I have to do the next day .
