What Happens on the Runway

A great place for designers to release their creativity is on the runway. There are no limits, and often, the more avant-garde the show, the more press you receive. (Good press or bad press—at the end of the day, it’s still press.) As for the consumer, you usually only get to see garments off the runway in press-related photos. When you have the opportunity to see the garment on the runway, it truly comes to life.

When I design a collection, I am free to do whatever I want. When working with a client, I must try to figure out exactly what that client really wants and needs. It’s always both a challenge and an opportunity to create something so special for such an important day in someone’s life.

One of my favorite things about being a wedding gown designer is watching the interaction between the family and the bride, whether it be a sassy sister who has watched entirely too many episodes of Say Yes to the Dress or a precious mom who would absolutely love to see a part of her wedding gown be used on her daughter’s big day.

Finding the One

Have you ever seen a knockout wedding dress but found yourself saying, “If only it had this,” or, “If only I could take this part off”? Don’t worry, it happens to almost every bride. Every wedding gown should be exceptionally unique. Unfortunately, someone else in the world is bound to buy and wear the same wedding gown as you at some point in time.
