Do you believe in fate? Steve Hassenplug, 58, ran into Anne Gregoire, 44, by pure chance at a concert in Paris. Their enchanting story of love started with “The Boss” and will end with happily ever after.
S: I was in Paris standing outside a big arena with a sign that I was looking for a ticket to the sold out Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street band. Then out of the crowd, a pretty lady with big blue eyes walked up to me and told me that she had an extra ticket.
A: I had waited in line for Bruce Springsteen tickets and was looking for a true fan to sell my extra to. It had to be someone I could sit next to during the show!
What is your favorite thing to do together as a couple?
S: Attend live music events, especially when it’s one of our many favorites.
A: Yes, that and traveling in and discovering each other’s country.
What is your favorite thing about your partner? Why?
S: Anne is the most non-confrontational woman I’ve ever known, which has taught me to have patience in a relationship. We’ve had four years together and not one fight.
A: Steve is very sweet with me and is always optimistic about our future. He helps me stay strong when we are apart.
S: It was gradual. I kept being surprised by how much we had in common—in both our interests and our views on important issues.
A: I was so impressed when he traveled back to France to see me just a few weeks after we had met. It showed me he was sincere.
What was your experience like shopping for the ring at Diamonds Direct? Tell us why you love the ring.
S: I wanted Anne to pick out her ring. Everyone told me that Diamonds Direct was the best place for selection and price. They were terrific, very knowledgeable and so patient with us.
A: I really like the way the main diamond pairs with the smaller stones in a cathedral setting. And I love the way it sparkles in the sunlight!
Now that you’ve found “the one,” what advice would you give to someone else about love?
S: Be patient and be bold! If I hadn’t decided to take a trip to Europe, I wouldn’t have met Anne.
A: When you buy tickets to Bruce Springsteen, get an extra one.
