When Joe Liddy, 33, first met Danielle Fields, 27, on a blind date, he was instantly smitten and knew she was someone special. After a family beach trip, they both knew there was more than just salt in the air…there was love. She not only stole his sunglasses, but she stole his heart.

How did you two meet?
J: We met through mutual friends and went on a blind date. I had only seen pictures of her and thought she was so beautiful.
D: He was a complete sweetheart and made sure the night was everything I wanted.
Tell us about your most memorable date.
J: It was definitely our first date. When Danielle arrived at my house she got out of her car and locked her keys in it. I had to call AAA to come unlock her car. She explained that this happened to her frequently and when the AAA person arrived, it was the same gentleman that unlocked her car a few weeks ago. That broke the ice.
When did you realize you had met “the one?”
J: Honestly, the first time I met her I told myself, “Wow, this girl is special,” but the true moment was when she met my family during a beach trip. The whole drive home all I could think about was how incredible she was and that I wanted to be with her forever.
D: When he invited me on vacation to meet his family. I felt like I was already part of the family.
J: Danielle always likes to wear my sunglasses, so I decided to hide the ring in a sunglass case. I told her I just bought a new pair of sunglasses that I wanted to show her. Then I opened the case and proposed to her. She was so shocked.
D: The night he proposed was a random Monday night and we were making dinner. There was no indication something special was about to take place. He began telling me about a new, expensive pair of sunglasses he bought for an upcoming trip. He knew I’d get excited to see them. When he opened the case, there sat the ring!
What was your experience like shopping for the ring at Diamonds Direct?
J: It was outstanding! They did a great job of understanding what I was looking for and helped me pick the perfect diamond. The ring turned out better than I could have imagined.
D: I love my ring—the quality of the diamond is the highest I’ve ever seen.
Now that you’ve found “the one,” what advice would you give to someone else about love?
J: Be patient and don’t be afraid to be bold about what you want. Love will find its way into your life.
D: Make sure that someone is a person that you can be 100 percent yourself around.
J: I can’t wait to travel the world with her and come home to her every day.
D: Spending each day with him by my side. Life is tough, and when you have someone to go through it with you, it makes life more fun.
