Special Thanks to Secret Stages
For more than two decades, he has quietly represented our city by forging his own path in photography. He has acted as house photographer for Red Rocks Amphitheater, The Festival Network, the CareFusion Jazz Festival Series, and Bluegrass Underground, and has been the house pick for OZ Nashville’s Brave New Art. His work has been featured in exhibitions in Spain by the U.S. Consulate, New Orleans for the Jazz and Heritage Festival, the Spoleto Art Festival, the Newport Jazz Festival, and most recently, in our Magic City at Secret Stages. His work has benefitted charities including the New Orleans Musicians’ Assistance Foundation, the Tipitina’s Foundation, the Music Maker Foundation, the Newport Festivals Foundation, and Scrollworks of Birmingham.
And though his portfolio boasts beautiful advertising and editorial work, his biggest mark is made with conceptual portraits of world-renowned musicians in a project named Instrumenthead. He is currently leading an Indiegogo campaign to help fund the publishing of an Instrumenthead book. He is not only proud be a part of the magic at home, but he aims to spread the passion our city has for the arts with the rest of the world, and that makes us proud to call Michael Weintrob Birmingfamous.
