This month’s One on One conversation focused on magazine publishing, outdoor sports, and great restaurant spots.

Originally from Charleston, West Virginia, Eddie Lee Rider has called Birmingham home since 1998. Entering the publishing world straight out of Georgia State University in the early ‘90s, Rider has worked in Atlanta, Dallas/Fort Worth, and New York City before moving to The Magic City. He counts among his many local publishing mentors Don Logan, Phyllis Hoffman, Elton and Jim Stephens. He and his business partner, Eric O’Keefe, started “The Magazine of the American Landowner”—The Land Report in 2007.  The publication and its website, landreport.com, are nationally recognized as an authority on recreational and investment land and have become the voice of the American landowner featured regularly in The Wall Street Journal, FORBES and The New York Times.  Rider  lives in Hoover with his wife, Silvia.

Amy Nagrodzki Morrison is the vice president of sales at Butler’s Grooming Club, a men’s grooming club that provides a full range of services and high quality grooming products tailored uniquely to men. Born and raised in Birmingham, Morrison graduated from Mountain Brook High School and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas in Retail Merchandising. After graduation, she moved to New York to pursue her dream of working in the retail industry. There, she worked as an Account Executive for multiple apparel and accessory lines. She then moved to Florida and served as the associate director of retail for Miami-based The Art of Shaving, a division of Proctor and Gamble, which she helped grow by nearly 50 percent during her tenure.

Morrison currently resides in Mountain Brook with her husband, Eric. She is thrilled to have moved back to her hometown and enjoys spending time with her family and friends and discovering the growth of Birmingham that has taken place over the 12 years she has been away.
