One on One- May 2011

We put together an incredibly fashionable conversation for this month’s One on One. Lesley DeCastro, owner of Manhattan South, and Bryson Wilson,

Bryson Wilson

owner of  the  children’s clothing and maternity stores, Fireflies & Fairytales and The Swanky Stork, are women with a heightened sense of fashion and a smart head for business. Among other things, they talked about what makes this a fashionable town. They even traded a few tips from the world of retail.

Lesley DeCastro

Lesley DeCastro recently moved her popular boutique to Cahaba Heights, where her customers can shop her trend-setting fashions in comfort and style. Manhattan South’s boutique offerings “embody the West Coast lifestyle—relaxed, carefree but totally sexy and put-together.”

DeCastro has a tantalizing mix of left brain, right brain abilities with a computer degree from Auburn, an MBA from Samford, and a sense of fashion style that plays out in her boutique. In addition, she has a very active role in Birmingham’s non-profit community including a leadership position in the Civiettes Club of Birmingham.

Bryson Wilson is one of three sisters who own the stores, Fireflies & Fariytales in Lee Branch and The Swanky Stork in Homewood. The stores focus on fashionably outfitting young mothers and their children. The company also has a wholesale business that creates clothing under the Fireflies & Fairytales label for other retail outlets.

Also charity aware, Wilson and company operate a the Fireflies & Fairytales Foundation to help children overcome the emotional, physical and psychological problems that arise when a child loses a parent to cancer. The sisters, Bryson, Mary Ann and Beth lost their mother to cancer back in 1995.

Their conversation was very fashionable and smart as you might expect. Watch the One on One videos below:
