Homewood High School, along with many other local schools, participated in the March 14th National School Walkout to promote a change in national gun laws. The event took place at schools across the country, starting at 10 a.m. in each time zone and lasting 17 minutes—one minute to honor each life lost in the February 14th shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Homewood added an extra minute to their walkout to honor recent Huffman High School shooting victim, Courtlin Arrington.
