One Shot: Oak Hill Cemetery | Legion Field

Oak Hill Cemetery, which became part of  the National Register of Historic Places on July 13, 1977, has provided the final resting place for many Birminghamians since 1871.  Last month, people gathered at Oak Hill hoping to catch the perfect view of the harvest moon. When the clouds chose not to cooperate, one child created his own show making shadows on the tombstones. The “Old Gray Lady” turns 85. Opened in 1927, the landmark stadium was the scene of many football battles over the decades. It now serves as the home of the UAB Blazers.
