I love stir fry meals. I could not resist when I saw “Southern stir fry” on the menu at Southern Kitchen and Bar. The dish is available with rotisserie chicken or a half dozen blackened shrimp. I asked if the shrimp were from the Gulf and was told they were, so of course I ordered the shrimp.
The Southern Stir Fry arrived in a generous bowl, piping hot, with Conecuh sausage, fresh okra sliced in half lengthwise, fresh grape tomatoes cut in half, chopped red onions, and a generous helping of shoepeg corn. The dish is a spicy and crunchy mix of tasty textures and flavors. I paired it with their Belmont cocktail of Woodford Reserve, house-made lemonade, and pomegranate to round out this Southern meal. This balanced and sophisticated drink is burnt orange in color with a cherry on top, served in a low ball over the rocks.
