Tanya Alayne Hollins

“Many years ago, I heard a minister talk about how we all come from very different walks of life, yet there’s always a common thread that unites us. It’s the responsibility of each individual to discover and connect to that point of commonality in order to make the world a better place.

Those words were so powerful. They still resonate with me to this day. As I meet new people, I strive to create positive interactions by first being my authentic self while also seeking out and connecting to what we have in common.

B YourselfName: Tanya Alayne Hollins

Age: 47

Hometown: Birmingham, AL

Profession: Compliance Auditor and Inspirational Author

My Passion: Education. I absolutely love learning and I love learners.

Who most inspires you?

My sister–her courageous spirit will live forever in my heart.

If I could be totally wild, I would…

Go to Las Vegas for a month and see a different show each night, shop until I drop, enjoy fabulous dining and take a motorcycle ride to the Grand Canyon.

Words to live by:

“Education is for improving the lives of others and for leaving your community and world better than you found it.” —Marian Wright Edelman

What quality do you most like in a man?

Integrity

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Earning my MBA from Samford University. The educational experience and the credential opened many doors and presented amazing opportunities for me personally and professionally.

My best friend says I am:

Funny, caring, humble, loyal and resilient.

What is your greatest extravagance?

All things music. I have thousands of downloads and CDs which represent all genres. I will travel near and far to experience great “live” music.

What keeps me awake at night:

Constantly thinking of ways that I can make a difference in the lives of others.

I am guilty of:

Having a sweet tooth and eating entirely too many desserts. When dining out, I often ask for the dessert menu first.

If you could meet anyone in the world who would it be and what would you say to them?

Kenneth Chenault, American business executive. I would personally thank him for his innovative spirit, exceptional leadership and philanthropic commitments, which have positively impacted the business community at large.

You can never have too many…

Recipes. Cooking is an art and the more recipes you have, the more you can experiment creatively in the kitchen. Bon Appetit!
