NickLoweThe Forum Theater is back to its singer/songwriter roots with Nick Lowe in the house on October 21.

Lowe, a British artist who was once married to Johnny Cash’s stepdaughter, joined the music scene in the 1970s and is credited with helping develop punk rock. For the last four decades, Lowe has released a series of eclectic and critically acclaimed albums that have earned him a cult following. Besides being a singer/songwriter, Lowe has produced albums for artists such as Elvis Costello, Graham Parker and The Pretenders.

“The Forum Theater is an intimate, 275-seat venue with recently perfected acoustics,” says Cindy Fisher Crawford, Director of Communications at the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex. “It makes the artist sound like he’s playing right next to you.”

Lochamy BrothersCalling all trivia junkies. Birmingham Mountain Radio’s Lochamy Brothers return to the Forum Theater at the BJCC on Sept. 9 from 7-9 p.m. to host another night of “Right You Are!”

The show will feature a trivia game powered by Mental Floss and live musical guest Bob Tedrow of Homewood Musical Instruments, prizes, and celebrity contestants. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Forum Theater renovated 2The Forum Theater, once a lecture hall for medical students, is now a shiny, new stage for all unique performances. TheBJCC renovated the theater and added the best high-tech acoustics, digital projection, audio and video systems, and surround sound for an once-in-a-lifetime theatric experience.

“The BJCC envisioned more than just a lecture hall, “ says Cindy Fisher Crawford, Director of Communications and Brand Strategy at Birmingham Jefferson Convection Complex. “It’s now a unique performance space that is ideal for a variety of musical, spoken word and dramatic performances, as well as, films, lectures and community events.”
