B-Yourself: Jessica Lazarus

Jessica Lazarus

Name: Jessica Lazarus

Age: 26

My hometown: Mountain Brook

Profession: Hair Stylist at Joelle Salon and Entrepreneur

My passion: Connecting with people and leaving them better than I found them. I am so lucky to be able to channel this passion into my hairstyling career. Every day I live my passion in one way or another.

Who most inspires you? My mother. She is the most amazing woman in the world, and I am blessed to have her as a role model, advocate and friend

What is your most marked characteristic? Either my enthusiasm or my smart mouth—it’s a toss up.

My most overused words or phrases: Fantastic and absolutely.

Most treasured possession: My great grandmother’s engagement ring. The first piece of fine jewelry I ever owned has such a history. I value the story behind it so much more than any dollar amount it may be worth.

I am guilty of: Nothing until proven otherwise!

My best friend says I am: Delightfully creative. (I added the delightful part).

Guilty pleasure: Law and Order marathons on Sundays…but let’s be honest, I don’t feel guilty about it.

Favorite book: The Noticer by Andy Andrews, an amazing writer.

Talents (or talents you wish you had): My favorite talent is my resourcefulness. If there is a challenge I can usually rig up a solution MacGyver style.

What keeps me awake at night? Restless thoughts about how I can make tomorrow better than today.

Quality you most like in a woman/man? Thoughtfulness. To me, life is all about the little things. I love when a man can pick up on the details.

Which living person do you most admire? I try to find a way to admire something about every person I meet. We all have so many wonderful things to share.  I would have to say that I admire my mother most.

If you could meet anyone in the world, who would it be and what would you say to them? I’d like to meet Vidal Sassoon. That meeting would be great not so much for what I would get to say to him but for what I would get to HEAR from him. I’d love to hear stories about his life and career.

Favorite journey or trip: I recently went on a trip to Israel. It was by far the most amazing trip I have taken to date. I learned so much, made life-long friends, experienced once-in-a-lifetime feelings and, most important, ate AMAZING food!

What is your greatest achievement? Following through with Jet Set and Style. I designed a mobile styling station and had it put into production. Currently, I am in business marketing and selling these cases. This venture has been my greatest challenge and is, to date, my greatest achievement. (Check it out at www.jetsetandstyle.com!)
