One-on-One: Lori Sours & Jeff York

One-on-One. People Talking.

The topic was salsa before moving on to creative advertising, films and the rigors of a long-distance commute from Chicago to Birmingham. And that was just the start of this month’s One on One conversation.

Lori Sours  (aka “Salsa Senorita”, co-creator of Salsa Senorita brand salsa) is a New Mexico native with a strong affection for all things Southwestern. And what after all could be more Southwestern than salsa.

Sours moved to Birmingham about four years ago when her husband was transferred from Coke in Atlanta to the United Coca-Cola Bottling Company here in Birmingham. A health enthusiast, Sours loves snow skiing out west, water sports on Lake Martin and healthy cooking.

“One reason salsa sales have continued to grow so dramatically is that American tastes demand it.  Spicy foods continue to be very popular among consumers”, says Salsa Senorita co-founder and TV cooking personality Lori Sours who adds, “ we’re all much more conscious about the nutritional value of foods; we’re looking for flavorful foods that have been minimally processed and Salsa Senorita brand salsas provide an all-natural, no- preservative option.  Our salsa really is vegetables in a jar.”

Lori and her brother Mark Coffman created the Salsa Senorita line of all-natural salsa from a favorite family recipe.  Salsa Senorita is offered in four varieties: Hot, Medium, Mild and Roasted Garlic and is available at fine grocery stores and specialty food markets including Western Supermarkets, Piggly Wiggly, V Richards, Whole Foods, Manna Market, Tuscaloosa, Earth Fare , Huntsville and online at
