Jefferson County Sheriff Mark Pettway was reelected to a second term on November 8, 2022. He made history four years earlier when he became the first black elected sheriff in Jefferson County. Mark sees his position as a higher calling and is deeply committed to carrying out the duties of the office. He is a tireless community service advocate through programs like Jobs Not Jail, Books Not Bullets, Renewed for Re-entry and helped launch a new Mental Health Crisis Care Center. In his 29 years as a law enforcement officer, Mark has shown leadership, courage and integrity. He is a loving husband and proud father of two daughters.
