Todd Simpson and Mojo Child
with Christian Herring
and True Blues

WorkPlay, 12/22, 8:00 PM

Todd Simpson, the young man from a small town in Alabama, has spent the last three years playing well over 400 shows, from small towns in the Mississippi Delta to the world famous Whisky A-Go-Go. Known around the south as a guitar prodigy capable of playing every way imaginable (right-handed, left-handed, behind-the-back, Jeff Healey style, etc. ) Todd often gets lost in the music. This passion is what leads many fans to refer to his performances as “The Todd Simpson Experience”. For all of the guitar prowess that Todd is known for, his performances are raw, passionate, and eschew overproduced and manufactured music. Mojo Child features Wes Simpson (rhythm guitar), Corey Mitchell (bass), David Burks (drums), and Regi Yarbrough (keys and horns). Todd and the band create their music in a very unique way. Most of Todd’s songs are played for the first time live on stage with no rehearsals or practice, making each show unique and powerful. It’s time to have a “Blues” Christmas at WorkPlay with Todd Simpson & Mojo Child! More details here

Brown, a former chef, and his band-mates are favorites in Birmingham, with a fairly long history here playing smaller venues around town before earning national acclaim with The Foundation in 2008. As their fame has grown, so has the size of the concert hall. The Zac Brown Band now has a Grammy to its credit, and awards from the Academy of Country Music, the Country Music Association and CMT.  This Birmingham show will be a big one, but it will also feel a bit like coming home for the holidays – for band and fans alike!
