Give Birmingham: Alabama Autism Assistances, The HANDS Program

Assistance born out of need, born out of love

The Alabama Autism Assistance Program/The HANDS Program has been serving individuals with special needs and their families since 2006. The HANDS Program provides one on one and small group therapy, training and consultation services for families and service providers, a number of customized services specific to the school setting, and social skills groups for all ages. The HANDS Program has offices in the Birmingham and Tuscaloosa areas. There is also a Kinect Sports league, started in 2014, that is in both the Birmingham and Tuscaloosa areas. Kinect is for ages 12 and up, it is free to those teens and adults with disabilities. It gives these young people the opportunity to participate in sports, get some exercise, and make friends. The sports include basketball and kickball.
