JHardy Family Law was established in September 2020 by Jessie Keating Hardy, Esq. The firm works diligently to protect you and your family as well as provide you with support and assistance throughout the legal process.

Legal Background
Jessie Hardy has been helping clients with family law and divorce related issues for more than a decade; she has practiced law in Alabama and Florida since 2010. She is passionate about domestic law and advocating for families. Her experience has been focused on contested and uncontested divorces, property division, asset valuation and/or dissipation, alimony, child support, child custody, visitation, paternity, dependency, post-divorce modification, contempt, and other family law issues.
She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Criminology at Florida State University in 2006 and received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Alabama School of Law in 2010.
Jessie is a member of the State of Florida Bar Association, the Alabama State Bar Association, Birmingham Bar Association, as well as a Board Member of Pathways, Junior League of Birmingham, and serves as a Second Saturday Attorney Presenter. She is also active in the Family Law Sections of the American and Alabama State Bar Associations and currently serves as the Incoming Chair of the Alabama State Bar Family Law Section.

“At J Hardy Family Law, we know that marriages are tricky; and sometimes a marriage may end in divorce. Knowing what the laws are for your state, plus the requirements for filing, are critical tools your lawyer must know. In Alabama, there are criteria and guidelines to follow for a successful filing and entry of a divorce agreement or order. With divorce agreements, property division and rights relating to custody and the visitation of children are two of the most important issues covered. In Alabama, a divorce can be granted based on fault-grounds (adultery, abuse, etc.) or no-fault grounds, but either way, you have to wait the standard 30 days as a “cooling off” period from when the Complaint is filed to when the Court can legally enter a divorce decree, even if you and your spouse have a divorce agreement.”
What special talents and sensibilities do you need to bring to the practice of divorce law?
“I practice divorce law with an eye on the family dynamic which means I look to understand the “psychology of the family” before I take any legal action that may ultimately make my client’s family worse. I find that how you start the divorce process and who you hire says everything about how the divorce process will go for your case and how much or little the process will affect your family. Be intentional about your decision to hire a divorce attorney because your confidence and control over the process to protect your family should always come first.”
