Cherie was born in Wisconsin and opened a McDonald’s franchise in Jasper, Ala., in 1975. In 1979, she became a charter member of the Medical Auxiliary and presently serves as the in-service vice president. Cherie is an active member of her church where she has served in leadership roles, on mission teams and plays in the handbell choir. Cherie serves on the boards of Salvation Army, Hospital Auxiliary, RSVP and is a past Positive Maturity board member. Cherie is the recipient of many community service awards: Civitan Citizen of the Year, President’s Call to Service, President’s Lifetime Achievement, President’s Volunteer Service and Alabama Senior Citizen’s Hall of Fame Religion. Cherie has been a member of a service sorority since 1978, served in all leadership positions and received special recognition for her more than 40 years of service.
