Top 50 Over 50: Russell Jackson

Russell Jackson was living his childhood dream as a firefighter for the city of Hoover. Everything changed in 1992 after responding to a medical call that resulted in the tragic death of a 2-year-old boy. This defining moment redirected Russell’s career path to founding Kid One Transport. The nonprofit medical transportation program became a national model and to date has served more than 50,000 children and expectant mothers in Alabama. Russell is currently the CEO of the First Responder Institute that operates the globally recognized Firefighter Challenge program.
