For more than 60 years, Peggie Myles has advocated for children, youth and adults. A retired Jefferson County school counselor, she continues to serve through the Girl Scouts and was the first African American board president for the Cahaba Girl Scout Council. now Girl Scouts of North Central Alabama. Peggie has served on the board of directors for the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute; as director of debutante affairs for Imperial Club Inc.; supervisor for youth clubs on local, state, regional and national levels; Sunday School superintendent and director for Vacation Bible School. Peggie has held local, state and national offices and served as advisor for youth as a life member of the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa Inc. She is a member of Macedonia 17th Street Baptist Church and was named a 2021 StrongHer honoree.
