Top 50 Over 50: Charlotte Mcghee Meckel

Charlotte Meckel is a member of Poarch Creek Band of Indians in South Alabama. She attended Coastal Alabama Community College in Brewton, Ala. Charlotte began her career with the Department of Defense and graduated from the Army Management Staff College in Washington, D.C. She served the U.S. for more than 36 years, 26 of which included overseas assignments. She retired as the director of printing and publications for the Department of Defense and returned home to the Poarch community. In 2016, Charlotte was elected secretary on the Tribal Council and currently serves on the following committees: Tribal Member Services; Health and Elder Services; Government Affairs and Rules. Charlotte considers it a privilege to serve her people by utilizing her education, vast work experience and knowledge of governmental functions.
